giclee photo printed with archival inks on a single 8.5 x 11 inch Epson pro glossy photo paper
with white margins (see photo, **borders are included in print, please be aware of this, (see photo) and not a mat board cutout,
from an original Velvia transparency of a 20 foot shorebreak wave at Waimea Bay, north Oahu, by longtime Hawaii professional surfing photographer Bill Romerhaus. It is initialed 'BR' in the lower corner and has photography and preservation tips included in the label that comes separate with the photo. This one looks great with a custom matt and frame.
Waimea Bay is one the largest surf breaks in the world. It is also home of the Eddie Aikau Memorial Big Wave Surfing contest only held when the waves are at least 40 foot high. Waimea shorebreak waves are some of the most powerful on earth, generated by far distant North Pacific Ocean storms during the winter months (Sept-March). They are an incredible example of the ocean's mightiness. This 15-20 foot high wave is breaking in water only about four feet deep. It has been said that one wave this size if harnessed for energy could provide enough electrical power to light a thousand homes for over an hour. Native Hawaiians, surfers, and a lot of oriental people consider these magnificent waves to be a supreme example of power and manifested with the spirit of mother nature. To actually see these waves breaking along the shoreline is an awesome, humbling, and unforgettable experience.
We're proud to mention that many of our photos were used used as background artwork in the new CBS television network series "Hawaii 5-0".  It is shipped unmounted and professionally protected in a flat mailer with 'Photo: Do Not Bend' labels on the package.
