VERY RARE Norway Strommen Bruk Hamar Accordion Sewing Storage Box Basket
There is not much information to be found about this manufacturing company but, I see that most of these 1950's sewing boxes have all the same "accordion" style and shape. This particular model is VERY RARE and most likely this model came just before its more successful relative from the 1950's. It opens from the top with two doors, inside there are sectional drawers with one sliding on top, and below there is a compartment that can tilt open from both sides. There is a handle for easy access and transport. The entire piece is collapsible and easily reconfigured. There are a few attempted repairs to nicks on the surface of the wood and the woven straw layer on the bottom compartment has some slight wear from age. The wood is a bright maple.
