genuine antique Shaker sewing basket

Description

Lovely antique shaker sewing basket. Delicate thin wood is in excellant condition. No split cracking along the 90* bends of the handle. Wood joined by copper rivets and square wood pegs. Measures 2 1/8" x 5 3/8". Inside is lined in blue satin fabric with floral print. Edges are worn. Lid underside has a 19th century glazed quadrille paper. There is a ball point pen ink date of 1929 that looks written by an old lady long after 1929 as ball point pens did not exist then. this should not be taken to mean anything. Box looks far older and is probably just a lady marking her heirlooms when this was given to her. Wood on bottom of box shows texture of a large circular mill saw. There has been no revarnishing and the surfrace has an attractive craized crackle. Buyer pays .00 mail.
