This copyrighted photo was shot by professional surfing, and stock photographer Bill Romerhaus, of North Shore Photography, who has been shooting surfing and scenics since 1967. He is one of a very few photographers in the world who specializes in hand printing original black & white waves and surfing for many years in his darkroom.
Bill has lived in Hawaii for over 50 years. In 1965 he shot his first surfing photo and was a contributing photographer to Surfer, Surfing, and other magazines for several years. In 1983, he started NORTH SHORE PHOTOGRAPHY, specializing in black & white professional darkroom services, after attaining the status as a master black & white printer and film processor for professional clients island wide. He also worked as a contributing photographer to over 30 international surfing magazines and manufacturers, and as a photojournalist for over 100 publications and agencies worldwide. His photos have credited him with over 200 cover shots and full page advertisements. His work has appeared in Popular Photography, Shutterbug, American Photographer, Shape, Men's Fitness, Surfing, Surfer, Honolulu, Aloha, Honolulu Star-Bulletin & Advertiser newspapers, Outdoor, Outside, Conde Nast Traveler.  Professional clients include American Express, Vogue International, Hilton Hotels, Hawaiian Tropic, Aloha & Hawaiian Airlines, etc. He was also a contributing photographer for over 40 years to The North Shore News, in Haleiwa.
He now specializes in printing historic and nostalgic images of Hawaii (aka NOSTALGIC PHOTOS HAWAII) from the thousands of photos he has produced and collected as a professional photographer in the past four decades living in Hawaii, and selling his award winning photo history book "Haleiwa: A Pictorial History". The images are very popular to local people and tourists visiting Hawaii. He is currently represented by Getty Images, one of the world's largest photo archives and most prestigious stock agency.
